Here is a little preview of the story I am working on. If you would like, you can leave me feedback down below in the comments section. Well, here goes a sneak preview of the so far thus untitled story I am working on.
He stood atop of the building smoking a cigarette, a light rain falling from the sky, down below him, he saw the police blocking off the street and rolling a roll of evidence tape around the long abandoned building across the street. Yet another murder, another senseless victim. As much as it pained him, he had learned long ago that he couldn't save them all, as much as he wanted to, he was just one person well one vampire really.
Long ago he had dedicated the rest of his existence to protecting the innocents of this world. His mind started to drift off for a brief moment to the day his world changed when he was given the gift of everlasting life, but his attention quickly turned back to the scene.
He saw a detective climb out of a car and walk over to the body. He knew this detective, it was Detective Brooke Colson, he had been following her career for a while. Actually, if you want to be accurate he thought he had been following her for a while, a guardian angel of sorts I guess you could say, he briefly thought back to the day he first met her as a child when he saved her from the worst kind of predator you could imagine. Suddenly he smelt something in the air, it was a scent he recognized all too well it was the sickening sweet scent of evil.
He looked back down at the scene as Brooke quickly took charge, he sensed the rush that Brooke got whenever she got to a scene and started an investigation. She got a certain amount of satisfaction when it came to getting justice for the innocents, much like him. She was talking to the responding officer, he could have easily heard what they were talking about, but for now he just wanted to observe.
He lit another cigarette as Detective Colson approached the body and slowly pulled the tarp covering it down so she could get a closer look at the body. He saw her grimace a little when she saw the state of the body, even he, who had seen pretty much everything was taken slightly aback. The body was that of a young woman most likely in her early 20's, she was very beautiful even in death, he mused, he glanced at the hole in her chest, cut with a savage yet surgical precision, he didn't have to be a rocket scientist to know that heart was missing. He quickly scanned the area surrounding the scene, hoping the feeling he had was not right, that this was just some psycho mad man, which was bad enough but not as bad as what he felt was coming.
He saw painted on the wall the symbol, it has been around 100 years since he last saw that symbol, The Order of Obsidian was back. There would be more to die unless he gathered the remnants of what was left from the last time he had done battle with them, that is if any of them wanted to enter battle one more time...
