Book Review #1: Spawn of Hell

Ah! the 80's the pinnacle of the horror boom.. Countless movies and TV shows came out during the 80's. Then there were the books! Not just by Stephen King, but also by a multitude of authors, some of which I will be covering in this here blog Today's book review is Spawn of Hell written by William Schoell

The cover looks promising enough an unknown creature coming out of the sewer opening up a manhole cover...and then there is the tagline. They dwell in darkness craving human flesh Thirsting for Human blood Now that sounds even more promising..but can it deliver? The answer is yes..in a way. The book is divided into two halves. The first half deals with the main characters David-a struggling artist and Anna-a famous supermodel going to a small town to find out how her brother died..all sorts of stuff happens involving the titular spawn of hell then it just sort of ends.... The second half picks up with Anna and David going to his home where apparently the titular Spawn of Hell originated from..it's there the story really picks up and we find out just how these things were created and more deaths and destruction occur.. I found the first half dull in certain spots and at times almost gave up on the book, but by the end, I was glad I didn't because the second half really picks up the pace and all the questions that were left unanswered in the first half are answered.. Overall it was a pretty good read, and I would recommend it, if you have cleared out the rest of your to read list and haven't made to the bookstore or have not picked up anything else to add to your e-reader.
