Movie Review: Sadako 3D

Today I will be posting my thoughts on Sadako 3-D which is the sixth movie in the Japanese Ring series which was based on a series of book by Koji Suzaki which has spawned 7 movies in Japan, Manga, three tv series, 3 American made movies and a Korean movie.

The movie sets its itself up pretty nicely with a man dumping a body into a well and goes from setting up the mythology of the cursed video and how it came to be.

A few deaths follow as a result of the video and the police are investigating along with our heroine Akune (played by Satomi Ishihara) all of which leads up to the final confrontation with Sadako.

I can't go into much detail without giving the whole thing away because it is fairly predictable in certain spots, I will say thou there is a sequel that is set and sure enough there is a Sadako 2.

Now I will say that Sadkao does take its sweet time before getting started which is something I didn't mind because I am a huge fan of Japanese horror movies and they are for the most part about the atmosphere and build up and it works. Enough happens to keep you interested until the final twenty five or so when all hell breaks loose.

Directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa, this movie is absolutely beautiful and the 3-D while there may not be all that much, what there is used to great effect.

While there was nothing overly scary in my opinion, there may be one or two scenes that may produce a quick jump scare.

Overall, this movie is worth a watch (it is available on Netflix) if you are looking for a horror movie to watch on a dark, stormy night while curled in a blanket with your girlfriend/boyfriend, dog or whoever you want to watch it with.

I give this one 3.5 out of 5 Stars.

So what are you waiting for go watch it already!!

Until next time

And don't be afraid to call out stupid people
